The Young and the Restless recap for July 21, 2020 takes fans back to 1984, when Kay prepared to get her bandages off, Nikki prepared to welcome a bitter Victor home, and Jack prepared to make a big professional move… as his first portrayer, Terry Lester.
Actress Jeanne Cooper decided she wanted to look younger, Hollywood is a harsh place to be for a woman over the age of… 12. She opted for a facelift and, rather than doing it in secret, suggested that Kay get one, too. Live on the air she went under the knife and, today, she had her bandages taken off – once again live.
Victor (Eric Braeden) and Colonel Austin discuss it in vague, censor-friendly terms, but, the fact is, Victor is impotent. And it’s making him very, very cranky and frustrated. Victor doesn’t understand why he can’t yell and bully his body into functioning. He just wants to be left alone, and he pushes Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) away. This makes her sad, and she turns to Victor’s ex-wife, Julia (Meg Bennet) for advice. Julia says Nikki should not let Victor push her away. Well, then, it’s all settled then!
Ashley (Eileen Davidson) comes bouncing into Jack’s office, giddy with how well their new product line is doing. Jack grumbles that Ashley is acting like it’s her chemistry that’s responsible, when it’s obvious that Jabot would be nowhere without their teen model, Cricket (Lauralee Bell). She is solely responsible for their company’s success!
Jack calls Cricket into his office, and can’t stop talking about how wonderful she is. Jack offers Cricket a new contract but tells her to keep it a secret. (She’s not even 16 yet, she can’t sign anything legally.) It’s because Jack doesn’t want Cricket to know that he is stealing her away from his father’s company to join his devious and plotting mother’s.
