The Young and the Restless recap for December 23-27, 2019, features compounded drama for the brothers Newman and a whole lot of characters continuing the status quo.
Just when Nicholas (Joshua Morrow) was ready to embrace the spirit of the season and allow Adam (Mark Grossman) into his home for a Christmas Day celebration, he learned some quite disconcerting news courtesy of Phyllis (Michelle Stafford).
“He wanted me to seduce you,” Red revealed. “He figured if we hooked up, um, that would be the end of you and Chelsea and she would go running back into his arms.” Not to put too fine a point on it, but Nick was pissed!
Luckily for him, Chelsea (Melissa Clair Egan) had a much stronger fortitude than Adam expected. She even put her foot down and said no to his proposed trip to Hope’s farm. She’s going to that party at Nick’s and he can like it or lump it — join her or stay home.
Kyle (Michael Mealor) continued to bemoan the fact that Theo (Tyler Johnson) is his kin. Lola (Sasha Calle) continued to defend her budding bestie to the hilt. And Theo and Summer (Hunter King) continued with their weird relationship. The only forward momentum to this roundabout affair was Summer pointing out that Theo is in love with Lola — way to go Summer, how very observant of you.
Meanwhile, Billy (Jason Thompson) continued his downward spiral and Amanda (Mishael Morgan) seemed to be willing to join him on the ride. Luckily, Billy resisted the temptation to join her for dinner and cards. Instead, he sat alone, at home, nursing a bottle and playing solitaire rather than joining his family in Colorado.
Wasn’t it nice that someone on the writing staff remembered that Traci (Beth Maitland) was once a singing sensation and allowed her to belt out The First Noel?
By extending an olive branch to Amanda, has Phyllis simply traded one secret laden-bestie (read: Adam) for another?
Speaking of secrets, do we even care about the one being kept by Adam and Chance (Donny Boaz) at this point? The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
