The Young and the Restless recap for December 9-13, 2019, features two characters in crisis, a relationship on the verge, some secrets coming to light, and a rough time for Phyllis.
Connor (Judah Mackey) continued down his destructive path, an unlucky development for Sharon (Sharon Case) whom the child now sees as Public Enemy Number One. He even went so far as to lie that she threatened him with being sent away and promised that the monster living inside him would come back.
A deeply disturbed Adam (Mark Grossman) insisted that all that was needed was for him and Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) to maintain a united front. However, Chelsea began to see that Nicholas (Joshua Morrow) was right in his posturing that her living at Adam’s was sending her son a dangerous message.
Billy’s (Jason Thompson) moods darkened and Victoria (Amelia Heinle) worried that she was losing her husband to his dark side. Even a proposed trip to the mountains didn’t alleviate Billy’s funk.
The only thing that brought him joy was his secret jaunts down to the dive bar where he played a few hands of poker with the locals and chatted up Amanda (Mishael Morgan).
After yet another argument with Devon (Bryton James), Elena (Brytni Sarpy) began to waver in her opinion that Amanda was the enemy. In fact, Elena’s now thinking that her true rival is the ghost of Hilary, whom Amanda so resembles.
With this sudden revelation, she tracked Amanda down and offered her sincere apologies, which were accepted. Meanwhile, Devon greeted Victor (Eric Braden) who came bearing an early Christmas present — dirt on Amanda.
Having decided that his demotion to co-COO was beneath him, Kyle (Michael Mealor) worked to reclaim his old job the old-fashioned way — blackmail. Over an otherwise pleasant dinner with dear old dad, Kyle promised to walk away from Jabot if his demands were met. Suitably impressed, Jack (Peter Bergman) bumped him to co-CEO.
After being caught red-handed with the stolen jewels, it was time for Abby (Melissa Ordway) to do some explaining — and it was a very funny story. Turns out there isn’t a cat burglar.
It was all a scam to oust Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) from her position at the hotel. Chance (Donny Boaz) thought the plan was cute so he agreed to go out on a date with her.
Speaking of ol’ Red, she was left feeling out in the cold — and terribly judged — when Amanda refused to represent her in a wrongful termination suit because she was “a lightning rod for trouble.”
On a mission to prove Amanda wrong — or was it right? — Phyllis confronted Chance and revealed some very pertinent details she had learned about his time in Vegas. It all had something to do with a gun, a duffel bag, and a sleazy little man in a suit. The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
