The Young and the Restless recap for January 11-15, 2021, features Amanda getting the unabridged version of her history, Billy taking stock of his life choices, Summer and Kyle making waves, and Abby worrying about her childbearing future.
The Young and the Restless Recap Highlights
Amanda’s (Mishael Morgan) loud and proud approach finally forced Naya’s (Ptosha Storey) hand, and she agreed to meet her daughter back in Genoa City and give her the answers she’s been seeking.
First things first, yes she did give birth to Amanda and Hilary. Secondly, their conception was a big mistake. A total oopsie on Naya’s part. Amanda had been put up for adoption at the behest of Naya’s political family, while Hilary was farmed out to Rose who could only manage the one child.
And with her backstory finally filled in, Amanda decided to share a few of her own home truths with biological mommy dearest. First, her twin sister was dead…and she had passed before the two of them had the chance to make the other’s acquaintance. Secondly, she’s now a successful, kick-ass attorney. And thirdly, Naya is a true piece of work — and Amanda didn’t mean that as a compliment.
The family reunion (or was it a standoff?) was interrupted by Imani (Leigh-Ann Rose) Naya’s other daughter – the grating one. She lent no credence to Naya’s confession that Amanda was indeed her daughter, and instead ushered the woman out of the room.
Then she took out a restraining order against Amanda. Amanda railed at the injustice, shed a few tears, then decided that she was better off without the women and their toxic influence.
History Lesson
When the plane he, Lily (Christel Khalil), Summer (Hunter King), and Kyle (Michael Mealor) was grounded due to bad weather, Billy (Jason Thompson) took the opportunity to apologize to Summer for his past actions. Summer accepted, and the two parted on amicable terms.
Lily, who had eavesdropped on the exchange, struggled to equate the Billy she knew with the Billy who spitefully slept with his girlfriend’s daughter. But she eventually did, and the couple was all the better for it.
Meanwhile, Summer and Kyle arrived in sunny Los Angeles with a two-pronged agenda. Interest Spencer Publications in a cross-promotional partnership, and get as much dirt on Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) as possible. Sumer tried to work her wiles on Wyatt Spencer (Darin Brooks), Sally’s ex, but he did take the bait. Still, Summer believes in the old adage if at first, you don’t succeed, try and try again.
Back to Basics
Sharon (Sharon Chase) and Rey (Jordi Vilasuso) returned from their honeymoon, and within hours Sharon was back to comforting for poor pitiful Adam (Mark Grossman). Faith (Alyvia Alyn Lind ) told the degenerate to kick rocks, so Sharon decided that her daughter needed therapy. Well, that and the two times she was caught drinking.
Switch It Up
Despite having the goods on Victoria (Amelia Heinle), Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) decided to heed Kevin’s (Greg Rikaart) advice and take the high road. But she couldn’t help resist the urge to let Victoria know that she has the goods and COULD spill them at any time. Nick (Joshua Morrow) commended his lover for her tact…but admitted he wouldn’t have minded her going rouge on his baby sister just this one time. Somebody’s gotta teach that harridan a lesson.
Baby Mine
Abby (Melissa Ordway) continued to bemoan the fact that she had yet to get pregnant even though she was practically willing the child into existence. She grew so flustered that she insisted on scheduling doctor’s visits for herself and Chance (Donny Boaz).
But the news she was greeted with was dire. Scar tissue from her previous miscarriage is the likely cause of her inability to procreate. There’s a surgery she can undergo, but there are no guarantees that it will reverse the situation. The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
