Like so many men in mid-life, Jack Abbott has looked around everything he’s accomplished on The Young and the Restless and asked himself, “Is that all there is?”
The Young and the Restless Poll: Where We Left Off
Sure, he’s CEO of a successful, international cosmetics company — headquartered in a small Wisconsin town. He has a son who seems to have turned his life around and is now both a responsible husband and businessman. (That starter marriage with Summer is best left in the past.)
His older son is presumably also doing well. We haven’t heard that he isn’t… or, frankly, anything about Keemo for decades.
Sure, Jack’s (Peter Bergman) love life is… dismal. The last woman he embarked on a relationship with turned out to be a corporate spy. For a minute there, he thought he might have another shot with Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), but, alas, Victor (Eric Braeden) turned up alive… again.
So Jack’s solution to his ennui and midlife crises is to have a cup of tea and a chat with almost-therapist, as well as ex, Sharon (Sharon Case)… and then to write a book. About his parents. Their love, their life, their break-up, the business successes. Does that risky to anyone?
Be Careful What You Wish For?
Is it ever a good idea to go digging around in your parents’ past? Is Jack really prepared for what he finds? He just forgave Dina (Marla Adams) for abandoning him and his siblings. What if he finds something worse?
What if Jack learns something that will change the way he views his idolized father, John (Jerry Douglas), for good? What if the Jabot empire was found using less than honorable tactics — or-less-than legal money?
What if there are other siblings out there? Jack and Ashley (Eileen Davidson) can just about play nicely on a good day? Will Jack find a skeleton in his family’s closet? Vote in our poll, now! The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
