Victor announced that he’d be stepping down as CEO of Newman Enterprises on The Young and the Restless — and this time it’s for real and not just a temporary thing.
Sure, he did it after Victoria (Amelia Heinle) threw a letter opener at his throat (OK, it was a portrait of his throat), then threatened to start her own company to compete with his. But, it was still Victor’s choice! Did he make the right call? What almost 6,000 voters said:
The Young and the Restless Poll Results
Absolutely, 76% of the audience cheers. Victor (Eric Braeden) was long, long past his sell-by date. Not only was there his mystery illness — the one that has now been mysteriously cured — but it’s obvious his mind is going. Have you noticed him stopping in the middle of a sentence and staring off into space? Yes, Victor may need to just take up golf as he said.
He’s mumbling, he’s forgetting things, and he seems to be phoning in most of his emotions. Plus, let’s not forget that Victor has played his children one off against the other way too many times.
He promoted Nick (Joshua Morrow) over Victoria, Victoria over Adam (Mark Grossman), Adam over Abby (Melissa Ordway), and all the other possible combinations. Enough is enough. Victoria deserves this. It’s time for Victor to fade away into the sunset now.
Future Victory
Not at all, 24% of The Young and the Restless fans counter. No one can run that company — whatever it is they do — better than Victor. The man may be old, but that means he’s experienced and at the top of his game.
None of his children are as qualified, and they don’t deserve it. They hadn’t been nearly loyal enough to Victor, or respectful. They are ungrateful brats, and their father owes them nothing! Especially not the company he built from the ground up! The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
