The Young and the Restless Poll Results: Should Victor Come Out of Retirement?

Victor is very, very bad at retirement on The Young and the Restless. He keeps stepping back and letting one of his children take over, then gets bored and comes charging back in.

This time, he’s installed Victoria (Amelia Heinle) as the new heir apparent. After she threw a temper tantrum and whined that if Daddy didn’t, she’d be taking her ball and going home.

But Victoria has a lot on her plate. Billy (Jason Thompson) is periodically a gum-chewing reckless driver. Adam (Mark Grossman) is gunning for all the Newmans. Nick (Joshua Morrow) is running for office and putting the whole family under a microscope. She’s bound to make a mistake sooner or later. Will Victor (Eric Braeden) use it as an excuse to take back his power? Should he?

Stay Away

A girl power 60% of The Young and the Restless fans have no interest in seeing Victor throwing Victoria out of the big chair… again. He promised Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) he would take it easy and let Vicky be the big boss. He should honor both of those commitments. Victor claims he has great expectations for all of his children.

You know what would help with that? Letting them stand on their own two feet, without him always hovering in the background, shaking his head, and intoning, “I wouldn’t do that if I were you….” Even if Victor could do better, it’s time he let his kids learn for themselves.

And then there are 40% who are unhappy with Victor’s early retirement. Victoria basically blackmailed him into it, by threatening to start a new company to go head to head with Newman. Let her try, you suggest, laughing. Victor will squash her like a bug, and then maybe she’ll learn not to write checks her haughty mouth can’t cash. Victor Forever!
