In less than a year, the entire Ashby family has disappeared from The Young and the Restless. Lily (Christel Khalil) was the first to go. Off to prison, but we still saw her periodically, like when Billy (Jason Thompson) ran up to tattle about Cane (Daniel Goddard) and Victoria (Amelia Heinle) kissing.
The Young and the Restless Polling
Technically, Charlie (Noah Alexander Garry) and Mattie (Lexie Stevenson) disappeared before Cane did. (And who knows where baby Sam is, these days.) But if Lily had a definite, I am moving away scene! And Cane had an ‘I’m off to chase after my felonious pop,’ scene, Mattie and Charlie just kind of… faded away.
Are they living with Lily? Are they in college? Are they with Colin (Tristan Rogers), living off the interest from the money he (allegedly) returned to Uncle Devon (Bryton James)? Well, Lily’s back. Would now be a good time for them to reappear? The opinion of almost 9,000 viewers:
Bring Back the Young!
A majority 59% of you are eager for a hearties teen scene in Genoa City. Reed (Tristan Lake Leabu) was back briefly for his mother’s stabbing. Why not reunite him with Mattie? That was something that seemed to be going somewhere… until it wasn’t. Multiple colleges are closing due to coronavirus hysteria. Maybe Mattie and Charlie’s schools are closed, too. They’ll have to come home. And maybe even do something interesting!
Not So Restless
And then there’s the 41% of the audience that just isn’t interested. Charlie and Mattie had plenty of chances to do something interesting. They didn’t. Mattie giggled nervously around Reed.
Charlie had a mostly off-screen romance with Hilary’s (Mishael Morgan) protegee. They were trapped in a fire. He and Reed ran over Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott). And, still, nobody cared. There’s no point in bringing the Ashby twins back unless there’s a great story waiting for them. And that certainly doesn’t seem to be the case. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS.
