That Nick is self-righteous on The Young and the Restless is not up for debate. He’s white, male, rich, and Victor’s (Eric Braeden) son. Self-righteousness is kind of a given.
The question before us today is does he cross the line and become too self-righteous, or is he pretty much about where you would expect a white, male, rich son of a Victor and a former-stripper- turned-snobby-socialite who looks down on all his ex-wives to be? We heard from over 4,000 of you on the issue:
When Nick (Joshua Morrow) makes other white, rich guys in Genoa City like Billy (Jason Thompson) and Kyle (Michael Mealor) seem almost modest and retiring in comparison… yeah, he’s gotten too self-righteous, say 60% of The Young and the Restless fans.
He has opinions on Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) and Adam (Mark Grossman), Sharon (Sharon Case) and Rey (Jordi Vilasuso), Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) and… anyone.
No wonder Nick wanted to run for office. He wanted to be able to judge the lifestyle choices of many others and pass laws that would make them live how — and where — Nick deems best! Maybe not everyone is interested in your opinion, Nick. Maybe, your opinion is even… wrong?
Father Knows Best
Is it his fault the women in Nick’s life keep hooking up with the wrong men, 40% of the audience counters? Rey was married, for Pete’s sake, when he and Sharon met! And Billy slept with Summer (Hunter King) as a way to get back at Phyllis. Nick has every right to think the bum isn’t good enough for Victoria (Amelia Heinle).
He judges Victor for trying to control his children and Adam for trying to steal his. Nick is right about both those things. Think of him as Genoa City’s Cassandra. He can see what’s about to go wrong. And he’s here to protect you! The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
