The Young and the Restless Poll Results: Is Amanda Hilary’s Twin?

Even The Young and the Restless, usually the more reality-based of the soaps still left on the air isn’t above a long lost identical twin story once in a while.

Remember when we thought Cane (Daniel Goddard) had been killed? Psych! It was his twin, Caleb! Remember when Sharon (Sharon Case), Nick (Joshua Morrow), and the rest of the Newmans mourned Cassie (Camryn Grimes)? Fear not, for Sharon didn’t know she’d borne identical twins. Welcome to Genoa City, Mariah!

And now there’s Amanda (Mishael Morgan). She looks like Hilary. Though she claims to have no idea who Devon’s (Bryton James) late wife was, or that they are dead ringers (except for those unfortunate bangs). Are Amanda and Hilary another soap-set of identical siblings — or cousins, ala Patty Duke? Over 4,000 viewers have their opinions:

Oh, of course, she is, 75% of The Young and the Restless fans sigh, surprised we even had to ask. Forget the obvious same face (and body, and voice) thing. How about the fact that, when Devon looked into Amanda, he learned she had a restraining order out against a Ripley Turner. (He also has one out against her.) And Hilary’s birth name was Ann Turner. Devon didn’t see the connection? Really? He didn’t even give it a moment’s thought?

Fans did. Now, we’re not sure why, if Ann and Amanda (who said she was adopted, there’s an anvil for you!) are twins, Amanda would have been engaged to someone with the same last name as her birth family. But is still seems like a heck of a coincidence to overlook!

Ignore the Obvious

A smaller 25% of the audience hopes the show isn’t going there so soon after Caleb and Mariah. We’ve seen this story. A lot. How about something a little more original and truly surprising, instead of the same old same old. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
