The Young and the Restless has always handled financial stories better than most. But that’s when they’ve been dealing with CEO battles that spill over from the professional into the personal.
The Young and the Restless Polling
Their latest tale of green and greed is a little different. Kay (Jeanne Cooper) left a whole bunch of money to Devon (Bryton James), the grandson she only knew for a little while and who’d been adopted by a guy with a ton of cash of his own.
Years passed. Hilary look-alike Amanda (Mishael Morgan) showed up in Genoa City to announce that will was a forgery, and the money should really have gone to Cane (Daniel Goddard), the guy who pretended to be Kay’s step-grandson and turned out to be a con-man. Devon gave Cane the money.
Then it turned out that Cane’s dad, Colin (Tristan Rogers) was behind the scam. Devon blamed Amanda — and Cane. Cane left town to prove his innocence. And yet, the story won’t die. Should it? Over 16,000 fans have some pretty strong opinions:
It’s a Blow-Out!
Would you say 98% is kind of unanimous? We’d say 98% is kind of unanimous. Because that’s the percentage of The Young and the Restless fans who never want to hear about Devon and his money again.
Maybe it’s because the average viewer is having a hard time summoning up sympathy for Devon going from billionaire to millionaire since all of his money was inherited, not earned. (Yes, he earned more money on top of the money he inherited, but that’s not exactly starting from the bottom, is it?)
Minority Report
A scant 2% of you are eager to hear more. Maybe it’s because you figure this is the only way Devon will get any screen time. Maybe it’s because you really want to see Cane fry — or vindicated. Or maybe you hope, if you’re supportive, you’ll get a cut? The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
