Sharon is fighting for her life on The Young and the Restless, and the main bright-spot seems to be that her boyfriend, Rey, is staying staunchly by her side.
Her kids like him. Her friends like him. Heck, even her ex-husband likes him. But how do the fans feel? Is this couple in it for the long haul? What over 3,000 voters told us:
We love them, 70% of the audience cheers. Rey (Jordi Vilasuso) is the nicest, most normal guy Sharon (Sharon Case) has ever been involved with! He’s not nearly as involved with his family as Nick (Joshua Morrow) is (especially now that the most toxic members of Rey’s family have gone back to Florida).
He’s not a secret agent who took off without a look back, like Dylan (Steve Burton). He’s not a raging lunatic psycho who switches babies like Adam (Mark Grossman). Or the other raging psychos she’s dated – and killed.
Rey is exactly what Sharon needs now that she’s sick – and forever. This is the man she’s been waiting for her entire life. We hope she doesn’t blow it!
Oh, my God, this is dullsville, 30% of the audience groans and flops backward like a melodramatic teenager. Yes, Rey is perfect. He’s the best man she’s ever been with. He’s a Boy Scout, a paragon. He is so, so boring.
At least when he was torn between Sharon and his ex-wife, he had something going for him besides awesome abs and a killer jawline. Now, he’s just there to ask Sharon what she needs, offering his opinion on what she shouldn’t be doing, then going along with whatever she wants to do, anyway.
In real life, that makes Rey a dream man. But, on a soap, it makes him a dud. Either liven Rey up… or move him on. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
