Jim Romanovich hosts the show Radio Retropolis, the home of Ultimate Classic Radio Podcasts. He has also interviewed daytime stars, including the late Kristoff St John (ex-Neil, The Young and the Restless) whom he spoke to in 2013.
“I hope you join me for this two-part podcast on June 29th and 30th as Kristoff candidly shares the difficulties and challenges he faced being an African American actor and role model,” Romanovich tweeted. “This is an intimate informal interview that I think all who loved him will enjoy.”
Soap fans know the name Jim Romanovich as the TV executive producer who helped keep the Daytime Emmys on the airwaves when they were broadcast on The CW in 2009 and on CBS from Las Vegas in 2010 and 2011. He’s back this year as producer of the Daytime Emmys which are set to air once again on CBS. He has other ties to daytime, too.
A native of Chicago, Illinois, Romanovich is a Los Angeles-based TV producer and co-host. He broke into producing TV with the series Mysteries, Magic & Miracles, which debuted on SyFy in 1994.
St. John first came to the attention of daytime fans after he was cast as Adam Marshall on the short-lived NBC soap opera Generations. After that show came to an end, Kristoff St. John was hired to play Neil by the late William J. Bell, creator/head writer/senior executive producer of YR. After doing a few non-contract episodes, Bell phoned St. John while he was on set and asked if he’d like to stick around for a few years.
That was the beginning of St. John’s memorable and powerful run in Genoa City. The actor was paired With Victoria Rowell (ex-Dru). He won two Daytime Emmys for his work on the show. St. John passed away in 2019. The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
