The Young and the Restless walked away a big winner at the 47th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards last week. Not only did Bryton James win his second Daytime Emmy, this time for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, but YR won its 10th statuette for Outstanding Drama Series.

Bryton James Gives Thanks

One thing the two wins have in common is the late Kristoff St. John (ex-Neil). James had scenes related to the passing of Neil on his reel. YR submitted Neil’s funeral episodes. To pay tribute to St. John and his contributions not only to these wins but also the contributions he made throughout his life, James posted a tribute to his late friend on social media.

“The reason we Love him… the reason we Won… and the reason I had a path to follow,” James posted. St. John earned two Daytime Emmys for his work as Neil during the course of his career. His first came in 1992 in the category of Outstanding Younger Leading Actor in a Drama Series. His second was for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2008.

“Thank you @kristoffstjohn for how you affected each of us,” James continued. “And thank the @daytimeemmys , @cbstv , @youngandrestlesscbs & all of the voters for an incredible celebration! Congratulations to @myjasonthompson @evalarue, @patcampy and all of Hair and Makeup, the entire Art/Set decoration team, & the Sound mixing team! I couldn’t be more grateful to be apart of the #YR family! 🏆 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆.”

In his post, James acknowledged not only his and the show’s win, but also Jason Thompson (Billy) who won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, Eva LaRue (ex-Celeste), who won for Outstanding Guest Performer in a Drama Series, and makeup artist Patti Denney, who won for Outstanding Makeup in a Drama Series, along with the show’s other Creative Arts winners.

YR co-stars praised James for his post, adding their own thoughts in the comments section. “I’m so beyond happy for you! LONG overdue!” posted Elizabeth Hendrickson (Chloe). Thompson wrote: “That’s amazing!! You’re the best Bryton.”

Tracey Bregman (Lauren) posted: “Omg, I love this so much. ❤️” Michael Mealor (Kyle), Michelle Stafford (Phyllis), Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea), Camryn Grimes (Mariah), Doug Davidson (Paul), Lauralee Bell (Christine), Melissa Ordway (Abby), Brytni Sarpy (Elena), and Jordi Vilasuso (Rey) all also chimed in with well-wishes and joyful emojis.

Soap Hub sends sincere congratulations to James, Thompson, the show, and all the winners at this year’s Daytime Emmys! The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
