The Young and the Restless duo of Mariah and Tessa have conquered quite a few challenges during the course of their relationship. If they end up marrying anytime soon, and in order to honor social-distancing, they may have to employ Zorbing to go through with a ceremony safely.
The Young and the Restless Unique Romance
“Zorbing themed wedding?” Cait Fairbanks (Tessa) suggested to Camryn Grimes (Mariah) in a tweet. Grimes responded with three thoughts: “I genuinely had to look up ‘Zorbing.’ I am old. If we don’t have this at our wedding we’re getting a divorce.”
What is Zorbing? You may not be alone in not knowing what it is. According to Wikipedia, Zorbing is “the recreation or sport of rolling downhill inside an orb, typically made of transparent plastic” — the orb’s material appears to protect users from any harm.
A Mariah/Tessa wedding may seem a faraway possibility, but perhaps not. The show is, set to return to work later this month. It’s rumored that big group scenes will be written infrequently in light of social-distancing concerns, but there’s no reason that the duo couldn’t elope.
The pair wouldn’t be the first duo to run off (“Zorb off”?) to Las Vegas to wed in secret. They also would not be the first same-sex couple to marry. On All My Children, Bianca (Eden Riegel, who went on to play Heather on YR) and Reese (Tamara Braun, ex-Kim/ex-Carly, General Hospital) in 2009. On Days of our Lives, Sonny (Freddie Smith) and Will (Chandler Massey, formerly Guy Wilson) tied the knot in a ceremony officiated by Will’s grandmother Marlena (Deidre Hall) in 2014
Or perhaps Mariah and Tessa should wait until social-distancing restrictions are lessened so that they can be surrounded by family and friends for their big day? The first step will be returning to production. Soap Hub will keep viewers updated on when those plans are finalized and put into motion. The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS.
