It was a Wayback Wednesday like no other for former The Young and the Restless star and Daytime Emmy winner Eva LaRue. The actress got a surprise on social media when a follower shared an old video of the soap vet meeting the legendary country singer when she was only 16 years old.
It happened on Wednesday afternoon when Twitter user @EvaLaRueDotNet posted the video so that the actress who plays Lola’s (Sasha Calle) and Rey’s (Jordi Vilsuso) mom, Celeste, could see the incredible footage. “@ImEvaLaRue at age 16 with Dolly Parton,” they wrote, adding, “Kaya [LaRue’s daughter with the late John Callahan] sounds just like you!😱”
In the video below, which the poster found on YouTube from a special called, “Dolly Meets The Kids,” LaRue asks the country music legend about sexual harassment. “In [the film] 9 to 5, you were discriminated against sexually. Has that ever been a problem for you in real life?”
Parton responded in the negative saying, “I never pay attention to that stuff. I’ve never been discriminated against. I like to think that I’ve — well, I mean if I have, I usually have brought it upon myself by flirting or something.” The singer and the future actress both laughed. This caused one of the other kids to ask if she does a lot of flirting, which Parton admitted to doing.
While the singer may react to this question differently now in the era of #MeToo, it was a sweet exchange with the giggly girls, as she admitted to being called a flirt by co-star Jane Fonda and saying she felt Fonda too was a flirt.
Eva LaRue reacted to the flashback, retweeting it for her followers saying, “OMG, where did you find this! Awesome 😂#flashfromthepast.” The Twitter user let her know another fan had sent the clip privately in a direct message.
You can bet that Mama Rosales would hope Lola would never be such a flirt. Will she be back in Genoa City to make sure Lola isn’t getting into any trouble or help out Rey, whose girlfriend Sharon (Sharon Case) has been battling cancer? Stay tuned to find out. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
