Life has changed for everyone globally over the last four months, and although some countries have been able to get back to a semblance of normal, the United States has not and that’s affecting kids, as well as adults. The Young and the Restless star Robert Adamson is well aware of this and made us a little short film on his nephew’s life as staying at home isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
“I shot a short film with my nieces and nephew while I was in UT about being a kid in the age of Coronavirus,” Adamson posted to Instagram, along with said film that shows so much of what’s going on in American families across the country now and possibly for the foreseeable future.
In this film, a little boy we assume is his nephew is looking for something to do — really anything, but mom is busy on her laptop working. Many kids have had to deal with wanting their mom but finding her engrossed in her job rather than giving them her undivided attention as remote work has become common.
And, as many kids do, he tries his siblings for some fun but doesn’t get far. One sister just wants to play with her dolls, while a teenage sister wants nothing to do with him. And, while mom isn’t looking, he sneaks a snack. In fact, there are wrappers everywhere, which looks like many typical suburban homes these days.
Finally, Adamson’s nephew tries to ride his bike with a neighbor, and both kids put their masks on as they have been trained. Sadly, parents have to break this up as they are not six feet apart and our new normal becomes all too real.
When Soap Hub watched Adamson’s video, we just nodded because we get it. We really do. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
