Robert Adamson is returning to The Young and the Restless this week as Sharon and Nick’s son Noah Newman, and the actor couldn’t be happier.
Still, Adamson got a bit reflective on Instagram, posting about how people need to do their part to make a change—lessons he learned from his family at a young age.
“My Grandmother Dee read this poem to me when I was a baby,” he wrote, next to an image of the Rudyard Kipling poem, If. “My father read it to me when I was a child. I’ve been giving a lot of thought during these challenging times what these principles mean to me. So many of us want to be [a part] of the change. We all feel it’s important to do our part. We want our voices heard. Now, more than ever there is an opportunity to be the change we want to see in this world.”
Taking what he deemed from the poem, and those who taught it to him, Adamson reminds his fans that everyone has a voice and it needs to be heard to make a change.
“If you could listen to yourself, would that voice be someone you’d hear? If you could see yourself for 60 seconds, would you keep the footage running?” Robert Adamson asks. “Long before social media existed, this poem sought to give us insight into our personal journey, self-reflection, and individual choice. Now the camera is on at all times. ‘Hey guys’ has become an idiosyncratic staple for those with or without followers. Faking it has become a way of life. Straight up to the presidency.”
He asks outright to consider who you want to be—the one who talked about something or the one who followed through.
“In this world, you get no credit for the work, you were [too] busy doing it,” he said. “You get credit for repeating words formed by geniuses out of their own sweat. Do you want to own them or do you want to regurgitate them?”
Aside from a few episodes earlier this year, Adamson hadn’t been seen in Genoa City for much in the last few years. Now that Noah’s returning to the show’s canvas, expect him to have some harsh words for Adam, who he thinks should leave his mom alone while she battles cancer. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
