The Young and the Restless star Kristoff St John departed this world on Sunday, February 3, 2019, and it’s a loss still mourned by millions of daytime devotees. Today would have marked this talented leading man’s 55th birthday.

Remembering Kristoff St John

Though born in New York City, St. John was reared in both Bridgeport, Connecticut and Los Angeles, California. He began his acting career at the age of 10, thanks to the sitcom That’s My Mama and the Saturday-morning comedy series Big John, Little John.

Throughout the late 1970s and 1980s, St. John guest-starred in a plethora of primetime series including Happy Days, Wonder Woman, The Cosby Show, and A Different World.

Of particular note was his roles in Roots: The Next Generation (in which he played a young Alex Haley), The Bad News Bears (on which he starred as Ahmad Abdul Rahim), and Charlie & Co. (a sitcom in which he played a leading character).

Between 1989 and 1991, Kristoff St. John played Adam Marshall in NBC’s Generations, a soap opera focused on the successes and woes of an African-American dynasty. When that program was canceled, St. John was hired to portray Neil Winters on The Young and the Restless.

The role provided him with 28 years of steady employment, two Daytime Emmy Awards (Outstanding Younger Actor 1992; Outstanding Supporting Actor 2008), and 10 NAACP Image Awards.

St. John’s other acting credits include episodes of Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper, Martin, The Crew, The Jamie Foxx Show, Living Single, and Family Matters, feature films Trois 2: Pandora’s Box and 20 Feet Below: The Darkness Descending, a TV movie – A Christmas Cruise – and Home Is Where The Killer Is, a Netflix Original.

Kristoff St. John was preceded in death by Julian, his eldest child, and he is survived by his daughters, Paris Nicole and Lola, his former wives Mia Rosales St. John and Allana Nadal, and former fiancée Kseniya Olegovna Mikhaleva.

He continues to be dearly missed by his legion of fans and extended Y&R family. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes. For more about what’s coming up in Genoa City, check out all the latest that’s been posted on Y&R spoilers.
