Melissa Claire Egan has taken part in the social media campaign in which women are posting black and white photos of themselves in a sign of solidarity. However, The Young and the Restless actress has added a personal message to her post, emphasizing a private struggle she’s facing.
“As much as I want to only post that picture of me from a photoshoot years ago for this lovely #womensupportingwomen trend,” shared Egan, “I also feel I’m not really supporting women if we’re not honest with each other. So I’d actually rather post this one.”
The Emmy-nominated actress, who began her daytime stint on All My Children as Annie, says that her photo isn’t from the past, but rather “From today. At a fertility clinic. Dealing with some [expletive]. This is the real stuff women go through, and I thought I’d also share this, to all the wonderful women out there, including my own personal tribe of best girlfriends and supporters.
“Being a woman isn’t easy!!” Egan added. “But we’re tough and WE GOT THIS. Love all you women warriors!!! #womensupportingwomen.”
Melissa Claire Egan received posts of support after opening up about her journey. “Been there sis!!!!” wrote Michelle Stafford (Phyllis). “I got you!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️”
“I love this and you so much,” posted Chrishell Stause (ex-Amanda, AMC; ex-Bethany, YR; ex-Jordan, Days of our Lives), Egan’s longtime pal. “Such a warrior. Hope you feel ALL the support of SO many behind you 💗💗💗.”
“You are amazing,” says Tracey Bregman (Lauren). “Thank you for sharing your journey. I love you.”
The list of others responding to Egan’s post reads like a Who’s Who of Daytime. Her supporters include The Young and the Restless pals Greg Rikaart (Kevin), Hunter King (Summer), Lauralee Bell (Christine), Brytni Sarpy (Elena), Melissa Ordway (Abby), Kelly Kruger (ex-Mac), Jessica Collins (ex-Avery), and Egan’s former AMC leading man Cameron Mathison (ex-Ryan).
“Thank you for sharing,” posted @ccolloton24. “God works in mysterious ways, I truly wish you the best. I went through fertility treatment before having my first child after a miscarriage also. You’re beautiful, funny and a child would be blessed to have you as a mother 💗.” The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
