The Young and the Restless actors Joshua Morrow (Nicholas) and Brytni Sarpy (Elena) are used to doing interviews, but now, they’ve come together via Zoom technology to interview each other as part of YR’s One-on-One series. The two actors got to know each other better during their chat — and so did the show’s fans!
Morrow deadpanned that he’d allotted time at the top of the interview for Sarpy to ask him about his numerous achievements and accolades. Sarpy informed Morrow that she did know that he is a big fan of athletics (football, basketball) and that he was in a boy group known as 3Deep back in the 1990s. But, why, Sarpy wondered was it a boy group — and not a boy band?
“Good question,” Morrow responded, dryly adding, “We didn’t play anything. We didn’t do anything. It was cool.” Further proving he’s a funny guy, Morrow told Sarpy he was kidding about his awards, noting that he’s not won a single one. (The good-humored actor apparently was just going for a laugh; he has won not one, but two fan-based awards!)
The two actors discovered that they were both raised by their respective dads. While Sarpy is a native of Los Angeles, Morrow says he was born in Alaska but then soon moved to Oklahoma. The two actors queried each other on how they got into acting. Morrow said he took theater classes in college to meet girls and he also loved what acting had to offer. Morrow says a talent manager spotted him after he did a play and told him he could act professionally if he wanted.
Sarpy shared that she’d been on General Hospital for four years prior to joining YR. Morrow asked Sarpy how she met Bryton James (Devon), her on and off-screen love interest. It turns out they met in the parking lot when Sarpy showed up to read for the show! Soon, they were introduced officially as Sarpy prepared to audition. “We had great chemistry in the room,” Sarpy said.
Morrow recounted an arduous audition process when he tried out for a role on The Bold and the Beautiful. He didn’t get it, but he got a call to come in and read for YR, which was a far more simple procedure. “I feel like I was born to play Nick,” Morrow adds.
