Doug Davidson has been using social media to recount the storyline that helped catapult The Young and the Restless to the top of the ratings. We’re talking about, of course, The George Rawlins Murder Mystery. In his latest installment, Davidson recaps the climax and epilogue of the fan-favorite tale.
Doug Davidson Takes A Look Back
“As always,” Davidson wrote, “a massive thank you to: @joymathys without whom this wouldn’t be possible, @calyssadavidson for helping put this all together, Gareth Murphy for writing the amazing theme music, and of course, [and] my beautiful wife Cindy for literally everything else! Thanks for watching and see ya real soon!”
Sympathy shifted to Cassandra Rawlins, (Nina Arvesen), George’s widow as it became clear that she had not killed him, but rather Adrian Hunter (Mark Derwin) had. Adrian drugged Cassandra into paralysis, rigged a gun with dry ice on the trigger, and placed it near her head. The plan was for the ice to evaporate, Cassandra would die and people would believe she killed herself, guilty for having killed George (Jonathan Farwell).
Paul arrived in time to save her. Together, they tricked Adrian into thinking his plan had worked. Paul was fully cleared. Adrian went to jail. Cassandra and Paul decided to part ways, but couldn’t stay apart from each other for long.
While on a break, she tricked Brad Carlton (Don Diamont) into marrying her. They split so that Cassandra could reunite with Paul. Alas, she was tragically hit and killed by a car (off-camera!) on her way to meet Paul. Her divorce papers from Brad were never properly processed so he — not Paul — inherited Cassandra’s great wealth.
The Young and the Restless Memories
In this latest video, Davidson includes a clip of his appearance on The Pat Sajak Show to talk about YR and his high TV Q (which measures both likability and recognition factor). Paul revisited a relationship with Lauren (Tracey Bregman) but soon moved on to the love of his life, Christine (Lauralee Bell).
Still, as Paul said to Brad he had something better than Cassandra’s money — memories that will last a lifetime. Check out Davidson’s video below. The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
