The cast and crew of The Young and the Restless were honored with a special award by the NAACP. Michelle Stafford, who organized a toy drive in December for the NAACP’s Englewood chapter and raised approximately $5,000 for toys for families in need, was proud to bring attention to the award on her social media.
The Young and the Restless Toy Drive
“This is a HUGE honor for me and everyone at #YR,” she posted on Twitter, along with the video of the show being honored.
Inglewood Chapter President, Rev. Frank Shaw presented a community service plaque to Stafford that commemorated the work done by the entire cast and crew of the show.
“All these folks gave their time and it was a beautiful effort; this is how it should be,” Stafford said upon being presented with the award. “This is the beginning of a beautiful relationship between The Young and the Restless and the NAACP.”
Back in December, Stafford took to her Instagram to show the results of the toy drive, posting a photo of her and castmate Christian Le Blanc (Michael) in holiday garb, explaining they “totally bought out the toy section of @biglots.”
“We were only able to do this with the help of others,” she wrote then. “These incredible people who donated their time today and the amazing folks at The Young and the Restless who donate so much monetarily.”
And Stafford also pointed out that the show will continue to do all it can for this great cause and expects to continue working together in the future. “This is just the beginning,” she posted. “Thank you Fred Shaw and the @NAACP and the @NationalAction.”
Things aren’t going as well for her on-screen alter ego, as Phyllis is now worried about what Sally might do to her daughter. Will another one of her schemes backfire on her? History tells us more than likely. Stay tuned! The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
