The Young and the Restless showed how invested it is in the Abbotts when the character of Kyle was reintroduced to the story canvas a few years ago. Now, Michael Mealor, who joined the show in 2018, is celebrating a major milestone in Genoa City!
Michael Mealor Toasts To Three Years
“Three years on this crazy wild ride that is @YandR_CBS and @YRInsider!” Mealor enthused on Twitter. “I am thankful for every single second. And am even more thankful for all of the day 1 Kyle fans! Thank you for the anniversary wishes!! #YR.”
As viewers recall, Kyle returned at odds with his father Jack (Peter Bergman), and briefly allied himself with Victor (Eric Braeden). YR wasn’t going to let a leading man like Mealor go without a love interest, so the actor was thrust into a triangle with childhood pal Summer (Hunter King) and then-newcomer Lola (Sasha Calle).
After Lola was hospitalized and in need of a liver transplant, Kyle negotiated with Summer — help Lola and we’ll get married. Summer agreed. Later, Kyle and Summer split so that he could be with Lola. They were wed in what promos touted as the “Wedding of the Year!”
The newlyweds faced some challenges in their first year of marriage including a pregnancy scare (both felt they weren’t ready to be parents) and Lola’s absent dad Adrian (Jay Montalvo) popped up and was given a payout. Later, Kyle realized he was in love with Summer all along, so Kyle and Lola split.
Mealor was given a best pal/”frenemy” in Tyler Johnson’s Theo Vanderway. The two men had done their share of partying during their days in New York, but once in Genoa City, Theo wanted nothing to do with Kyle. He trusted him even less after it was revealed that the two men shared the same grandmother — the late Dina (Marla Adams).
Theo left town, but Kyle got a new adversary in Sally (Courtney Hope), who has learned that Kyle’s the father of Harrison Locke, the son of Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner), who is wed to calculating Ashland (Richard Burgi).
Recently, it was announced that Leiner is joining YR as a contract player, so don’t be surprised to see Kyle’s current story with Tara continue.
What else is next for Kyle? Stay tuned to find out! The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
