She’s made appearances on some of primetime TV’s most popular shows and portrayed two of daytime’s most loveable schemers. But The Young and the Restless actress Melissa Claire Egan is about to make her mark as a leading lady!
A September Tweet from Egan revealed that she’ll star in Holliday for Heroes, an original film produced by the Hallmark Movies and Mysteries channel.
In a separate Tweet, the official Hallmark Channel account described the project’s plot by posing the question, “Is true love in-store when pen pals meet in person?”
In a September 3rd interview with CBS Soaps in Depth, Egan elaborated on the very vague teaser. According to the actress, she will portray Audrey, a hard-working coffee shop owner, who sends some of her coffee to deployed First Sergeant Matt Evans.
His thank-you note begins a chain of correspondence that becomes both personal and romantic and the enamored writers later have a face to face meeting.
Egan’s co-stars in the film include frequent television guest star Marc Blucas, who will tackle the role of First Sergeant Evans, and former Broadway sensation Patti Murin a talented actress who has recurred on NBC’s Chicago Med since 2016.
Holiday for Heroes will be Egan’s first collaboration with Hallmark but she is certainly in good company. Fellow daytimers Alison Sweeny (ex-Sami, DAYS), Jen Lilley (ex-Theresa, DAYS) and Ryan Paevey (ex-Nathan, GH) have all appeared in a multitude of films for the family-friendly channel.
The film will first air on November 8 as part of Hallmark Movies and Mysteries, “Miracle of Christmas” programming slate. Until then you can catch the talented Melissa Claire Egan playing Chelsea Lawson on televisions number one daytime drama. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS.
