According to sources, The Young and the Restless has put out a call for two new characters. One is an updated listing for a role that’s already been announced. The other is a new character who may — or may not — be related to the first role.
Soap Hub already reported that Y&R is looking for the role of Nora. Now, a more specific description has gone out, noting that the character is 30 to 35 (not 30 to 40).
The description goes on to read that Nora is also “outspoken, loud, sassy, and witty. She can enter a room and effortlessly own it. Underneath, she hides a vulnerability but to most people, she’s a firecracker who isn’t afraid to cause trouble and shake things up.”
The show is also casting the part of Mandy, who is in her early 20s.
Mandy is described as a young woman who is “still searching for who she is and her own identity.”
A lover of music, Mandy is a “gifted songwriter. Mandy’s history of no self-confidence has always held her back in relationships. She doesn’t think she’s ever been pretty, smart, or funny enough but she’s all those things.”
The show wants candidates for the part of Mandy to have singing and songwriting abilities, along with proficiency in playing a musical instrument. (However, these are not deal breakers.) Could she be another singer Devon signs to a contract? Maybe competition for Tessa?
Nora will be a contract role; Mandy is described as a “series regular.”
Whoever lands the role of Nora will start taping on or around Friday, October 5. The actress who gets the part of Mandy will start taping on Friday, October 19.
Y&R doesn’t comment on casting until it happens, but Soap Hub will keep you updated as we learn more.
The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
