The Young and the Restless is opening its episodes in a new way, as viewers of today’s show witnessed! Rather than do a direct pick up off JT’s dramatic entrance into Victor’s office yesterday, viewers heard an actor’s voice say “previously on The Young and the Restless…”
Then came a series of snippets from scenes from recent episodes involving the battle for Chancellor park, Lily and Abby having a heart to heart talk, Faith spying Abby and Scott smooching, Cane sharing with Hilary that he fears it’s over with him and Lily, and scenes from over the years filling viewers in on JT and Victoria’s life together.
(Is it just us or does Thad Luckinbill, who plays JT, not seem to ever age?)
The JT/Victoria moments included ones from their romantic wedding to more tumultuous moments where career stress caused Victoria (Amelia Heinle) to slap JT.
Soap Opera Digest reports that the new opening element will be a daily event.
“We are always exploring innovative approaches to enrich the viewing experience for our fans,” Mal Young, executive producer/head writer, told Digest. “Adding the ‘Previously On,’ segment provides and opportunity to set the tone for reach episode and draw on the rich history of Y&R to connect the dots of the past, present, and future.”
The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for airtimes.
