The Young and the Restless continued its reign at the top of the soap-opera ratings throughout 2016.
But, which stories did you pick as their favorites (and which ones could you have lived long and happy lives without)? More than 5,000 of you chimed in to make your voices heard. Now let’s see if The Powers That Be are listening….
Good-Night, Sweet Prince
Not that many people in Genoa City were sad to see Adam (Justin Hartley) shuffle off his mortal coil (sure, Victor shed some crocodile tears, but it might have been nice to see some of that empathy while Adam was, you know, alive).
However, a little over half of YR viewers, 53%, named Adam’s Death as the best storyline of the year. Of course, soaps being soaps, it’s not outside the realm of possibility that Adam’s Return will be voted the best storyline of 2017.
For now, let’s just sniffle along with widow Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) and poor, fatherless Connor. Not Christian, though. At the moment, he’s actually got an excess of fathers.
Switch-A-Roo, Now Who’s Who?
Speaking of The Infant Formerly Known as Sully, 27% of you were riveted by the tale of this bouncing baby boy literally being bounced from his incubator at the hospital, into Sharon’s (Sharon Case) clueless arms at the mental hospital.
From there, to the home to Daddy #1, Dylan (Steve Burton), then over to Daddy #2, Nick (Joshua Morrow), all while Victor (Eric Braeden) and Chelsea know Daddy #3, Adam, is the real proud papa. Talk about a baby identity crisis waiting to happen!
Love The One You’re With
Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) was married to Jack (Peter Bergman). Phyllis slept with Billy (Jason Thompson). (OK, Phyllis had some Post Traumatic Stress to deal with, after an impostor took Jack’s place for months and she slept with him, too).
But it was the fall-out from the brother versus brother triangle that 19% of fans really thought made Genoa City sizzle this year.
Also Running….
The final 2% of you didn’t like any of the choices, prompting multiple votes of “None,” “None of the above,” and “None of them.” Hilary and Mariah also garnered one vote, and a single vote went to “Summer.” Not sure if they meant the character–or the season.
