Like his character from The Young and the Restless, Cane Ashby, Daniel Goddard was born in Australia. Now, the actor has news to share regarding his American citizenship and the reason that it will be delayed just a little longer thanks to the Coronavirus outbreak.
“Tomorrow was supposed to be my swearing-in ceremony to finally become a US Citizen but now it has been postponed,” Goddard shared on Twitter.
“Never the less when I wake…,” the actor added, “I will still feel like an American! #GodBlessYou #GodBlessAmerica stay safe & love each other, because we are all in this together! ❤️.”
Goddard received congratulatory messages on his news including one from Eric Braeden (Victor), who was born in Bredenbek, Free State of Prussia, Germany before coming to the United States. “Congratulations, brother!, Braeden tweeted to his former co-star. “We miss you on the set!!!”
According to the US Citizenship and Immigration Services website, the department closed all offices to the public as of March 18 and therefore canceled all new citizenship swearing-in ceremonies, which means Goddard will have to wait a few more months to officially become an American.
Many Americans are putting their lives on hold for the foreseeable future, self-isolating and social distancing. But we know Goddard will be there to take his oath to defend and protect the Constitution of the United States as soon as this time in our lives is over and he’s able to become a citizen of the country he loves so much. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
