Time will tell if Dr. Lena Cavett is able to help Chelsea recover from her stroke or not on The Young and the Restless, but for her portrayer, actress Dana Sparks, joining the top-rated soap is already a win in more ways than one!
Sparks took to Instagram and shared some photos of her at the production facility where YR tapes, Television City, the past home to such legendary series as All in the Family, Three’s Company, and The Carol Burnett Show. The latter gave Sparks a rush when she saw one of her favorites, Carol Burnett, on a studio wall.
“I am an actress,” Sparks began her post. “My 1st episode (their 12,025th!) of @youngandrestlesscbs airs [this week]. It was so cool to arrive at the stages and see this stage door. Absolutely love @itscarolburnett When I was a kid just couldn’t wait for her show to come on. It’s even funnier to me now.”
Earlier in the week, Sparks posted that she was happy to be recurring on the “iconic” series! “I am thankful to the producers, @cbstv and #Nancynaynorcasting!” Sparks wrote. “As well as Marilyn Fox @pacificresidenttheatre and @risabg – @bgbstudio – for keeping me in shape. As they say ‘Tune in.’ @soapdigest #happyactress #sagaftra #blessed #keepdoingthework #passions #jag #cbs #daytimetv.”

Sparks first came to the attention of soap fans not in daytime, but on the nighttime serial Falcon Crest, starring Jane Wyman as Angela Channing. Sparks played Vickie, daughter of Maggie (Susan Sullivan). She appeared on the show for two years. A decade later, Sparks returned to the suds world, this time as an original cast member on Passions, playing the role of Grace Bennett.
The Carol Burnett Show ran on CBS from 1967 to 1978. Burnett, a long time fan of All My Children, recurred on the ABC soap over the years as Langley Wallingford’s (Louis Edmonds) daughter, Verla Grubbs.
