The Young and the Restless C&G News

Who’s coming and who’s going from The Young and the Restless (YR)? Are any favorite performers from yesteryear returning to the daytime drama, this week, or in the near future?

Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring or day player roles? Are any well-remembered stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join Days of our Lives fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the CBS soap.

The week of March 16, 2020

Good news for fans of Christel Khalil. The actress will be sticking around as Lily Winters. In fact, she’ll be appearing on the soap on a recurring basis in the weeks ahead. Look for Lily to play an important part in Billy’s (Jason Thompson) storyline.

Maria DiDomenico portrays Alyssa Montalvo on Monday, March 16. The character is a friend of Adam’s (Mark Grossman) from his childhood.

DiDomenico was a co-creator of the TV series, The Bodega, in which she also played Daniela. She’s also guest-starred on Mistresses, Adam Ruins Everything and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and previously made an appearance on Days of Our Lives.

It looks like Paul Williams is MIA, again. Doug Davidson shared the news with fans on Twitter that he has “no shows left to air and no dates scheduled” to work.

The Young and the Restless History

YR made its debut in 1973 and introduced more sexual undertones and younger characters to daytime soap operas. It has outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households. Needless to say, four decades of storylines have kept viewers locked in and wanting more.

From Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) family machinations to Paul Williams’ (Doug Davidson) heroism to the adorable love story of Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Lola (Sasha Calle), YR knows how to entertain and keep fans coming back for more. Sadly, times are shifting and daytime soap operas are shrinking.

Bringing the Drama

It is one of only four remaining soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include General Hospital (GH), Days of our Lives (DAYS), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). YR airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for air times.
