The Abbott family is about to lose a key member. Eileen Davidson, who debuted as Ashley way back in 1982, is exiting the soap in September.

The actress confirmed the news on Twitter. “I’ve been so blessed to be able to play Ashley Abbott and work with the amazing people on the show and have nothing but gratitude and love for all!!!” posted Davidson. “Time for a little more control over my day today!”

Meanwhile, another Genoa City clan is expanding. Brooks Darnell was cast as Dr. Nate Hastings, Lily (Christel Khalil) and Devon’s (Bryton James) first cousin.

Look for the character to arrive in town to reconnect with his family on Tuesday July 3. Darnell’s credits include a stint a stint as Charlie Cooper on Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments in 2018.

Nate was last seen in 2011, at which point he was portrayed by Walter Fauntleroy.
