The Young and the Restless C&G News

Who’s coming and who’s going from The Young and the Restless (YR)? Are any favorite performers from yesteryear returning to the daytime drama, this week, or in the near future?

Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring or day player roles? Are any well-remembered stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join The Young and the Restless fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the CBS soap.

The week of November 9, 2020
Lauren Woodland returns as Brittany Hodges on Friday, November 13. Look for the attorney to share scenes with Theo (Tyler Johnson), her new client. She last appeared on the soap in October of 2019.

Deborah Geffner nabbed a role as a lawyer, too. She’ll be playing Gwendolyn Gardner and will be working closely with Peter Bergman’s Jack as well as other members of the Abbott family. Geffner already has a daytime credit. She portrayed Dr. Carlyle on Passions from 2004 to 2005.

Dane West is back as a young Adam Newman on Wednesday, November 11, and Thursday, November 12.

Meanwhile, on the exit front, Tyler Johnson is leaving the soap. He made a cryptic post on social media — “That’s all folks!” He later added, “It’s been an absolute pleasure,” and thanked everyone who tuned in to watch him as Theo. Johnson joined the soap as Kyle’s (Michael Mealor) former best friend back in June of 2019.

The Young and the Restless History

YR made its debut in 1973 and introduced more sexual undertones and younger characters to daytime soap operas. It has outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households. Needless to say, four decades of storylines have kept viewers locked in and wanting more.

From Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) family machinations to Paul Williams’ (Doug Davidson) heroism to the adorable love story of Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Lola (Sasha Calle), YR knows how to entertain and keep fans coming back for more. Sadly, times are shifting and daytime soap operas are shrinking.

Bringing the Drama

It is one of only four remaining soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include General Hospital (GH), Days of our Lives (DAYS), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). YR airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for air times.
