The Young and the Restless C&G News

Who’s coming and who’s going from The Young and the Restless (YR)? Are any favorite performers from yesteryear returning to the daytime drama, this week, or in the near future?

Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring or day player roles? Are any well-remembered stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join The Young and the Restless fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the CBS soap.

The week of November 23, 2020

Donny Boaz is out as Chance Chancellor, but don’t worry, it’s only temporary. The actor recently tested positive for COVID-19, so the YR brass had to find an emergency recast to take on the role, while he was quarantining.

Stepping in to portray Chance will be Justin Gaston (ex-Ben, Days), the real-life husband of Melissa Ordway (Abby). He makes his debut on Monday, November 23. It’s the second time in a few weeks that the soap has tapped a cast member’s husband for a role. Melissa Claire Egan’s (Chelsea) husband, Matt Katrosar, recently played her kidnapper on the soap.

Also, Nina Webster returns to Genoa City for a short run this week. It marks the first time actress Tricia Cast has been on the soap since 2014. Expect Cast to interact with her onscreen son, Justin Gaston’s Chance, among others.

The Young and the Restless History

YR made its debut in 1973 and introduced more sexual undertones and younger characters to daytime soap operas. It has outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households. Needless to say, four decades of storylines have kept viewers locked in and wanting more.

From Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) family machinations to Paul Williams’ (Doug Davidson) heroism to the adorable love story of Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Lola (Sasha Calle), YR knows how to entertain and keep fans coming back for more. Sadly, times are shifting and daytime soap operas are shrinking.

Bringing the Drama

It is one of only four remaining soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include General Hospital (GH), Days of our Lives (DAYS), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). YR airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for air times.
