The Young and the Restless C&G News

Who’s coming and who’s going from The Young and the Restless (YR)? Are any favorite performers from yesteryear returning to the daytime drama, this week, or in the near future?

Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring, or day-player roles? Are any well-remembered stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join The Young and the Restless fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the CBS soap.

The week of February 22, 2021
Elizabeth Leiner has been cast in the role of Tara Locke, Kyle’s (Michael Mealor) ex-lover. The actress’s credits include the movies Hamlet and Hutch, opposite Burt Reynolds, Nanny Killer, and Suburban Swingers Club, as well as guest spots on Drop Dead Diva and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders. Rebekah Graf, who was originally hired to portray the character, had to step away due to a scheduling conflict.

Ptosha Storey makes another appearance as Naya Benedict, Amanda’s (Mishael Morgan) biological mother. She’ll air on Thursday, February 25.

Also heading back to the show’s canvas for a short run is Lauren Woodland as Brittany Hodges. Once again, the attorney will return to Genoa City to help someone handle a legal matter.

The Young and the Restless History

YR made its debut in 1973 and introduced more sexual undertones and younger characters to daytime soap operas. It has outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households. Needless to say, four decades of storylines have kept viewers locked in and wanting more.

From Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) family machinations to Paul Williams’ (Doug Davidson) heroism to the adorable love story of Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Lola (Sasha Calle), YR knows how to entertain and keep fans coming back for more. Sadly, times are shifting and daytime soap operas are shrinking.

Bringing the Drama

It is one of only four remaining soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include General Hospital (GH), Days of our Lives (DAYS), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). YR airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for air times.
