The Young and the Restless C&G News
Who’s coming and who’s going from The Young and the Restless (YR)? Are any favorite performers from yesteryear returning to the daytime drama, this week, or in the near future?
Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring or day player roles? Are any well-remembered stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join The Young and the Restless fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the CBS soap.
The week of October 12, 2020
Marla Adams wraps up her role as Dina Bergeron, this week. Look for the character to finally succumb to her battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
As part of Dina’s exit, Cathy Marks and Jonathan Stoddard are returning as Young Dina and John Abbott, respectively. The pair, who last appeared in August, will air on Friday, October 16.
The role Courtney Hope will be portraying on YR has been revealed. Turns out it will be her former The Bold and the Beautiful alter ego, fashion designer Sally Spectra, who she played from 2017 to 2020. Sally will have connections to a few Y&R residents, including Lauren (Tracey Bregman).
The Young and the Restless History
YR made its debut in 1973 and introduced more sexual undertones and younger characters to daytime soap operas. It has outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households. Needless to say, four decades of storylines have kept viewers locked in and wanting more.
From Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) family machinations to Paul Williams’ (Doug Davidson) heroism to the adorable love story of Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Lola (Sasha Calle), YR knows how to entertain and keep fans coming back for more. Sadly, times are shifting and daytime soap operas are shrinking.
Bringing the Drama
It is one of four remaining soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include General Hospital (GH), Days of our Lives (DAYS), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). YR airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for air times.
