Who’s coming and who’s going from The Young and the Restless (YR)? Are any favorite performers from yesteryear returning to the daytime drama, this week, or in the near future?

The Young and the Restless C&G News

Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring, or day-player roles? Are any well-remembered stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join The Young and the Restless fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the CBS soap.

The week of April 5, 2021
Alyvia Alyn Lind, who has played Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon’s (Sharon Case) daughter, Faith Newman, since 2011, is exiting the soap. She makes her last appearance on Wednesday, April 7. The actress is leaving to take on a lead role in the TV series Chucky, on offshoot of the Child’s Play horror movie franchise. Reylynn Caster will take over the role later this month.

Jack Landron debuts as Sutton Ames on Monday, April 5. The character is the patriarch of the Ames family. Namely, Naya’s father and Amanda’s (Mishael Morgan) grandfather. The actor’s credits include guest spots on Shameless, Grey’s Anatomy, and Jane the Virgin.

Ptosha Storey pops back in as Naya Benedict on Thursday, April 8.

Please note that air dates may be subject to change.

The Young and the Restless History

YR made its debut in 1973 and introduced more sexual undertones and younger characters to daytime soap operas. It has outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households. Needless to say, four decades of storylines have kept viewers locked in and wanting more.

From Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) family machinations to Rey Rosales’s (Jordi Vilasuso) heroism to the adorable love story of Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Summer (Hunter King), YR knows how to entertain and keep fans coming back for more.

Bringing the Drama

It is one of four soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include General Hospital (GH), Days of our Lives (DAYS), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). YR airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for air times.
