The Young and the Restless has cast the role of Moses, the son of Neil and Sofia. Actor Jacob Aaron Gaines has joined the cast of the CBS serial, playing the role of Devon and Lily’s brother.
Jacob Aaron Gaines Cast As Moses Winters
Soap Opera Digest reports the news of Gaines’ casting. “I’m honored to be playing Neil’s son and to show YR fans a little piece of him,” the actor says. “I’m thrilled to be able to do that.
“Kristoff’s [Kristoff St. John, ex-Neil] story hit me pretty hard and I’m sure I won’t understand the true gravity of it until I’m further into playing Moses. For now, it’s a huge privilege for me.”
Gaines’ other credits include roles in the films Motorvation and Fatal Affair and the TV series Dimensional Shift.
Bringing on Moses doesn’t come as a total surprise as Devon (Bryton James) and Nate (Sean Dominic) were talking about the young man recently and how he hopes to follow in Nate’s footsteps by pursuing a career in medicine.
Despite his young age, there have actually been three other actors who played Moses in the past. Twins Phoenix and Zion Collins played the part for two years starting in 2011. Next, Randall L. Smith took on the role for three years starting in 2013. Dax Randall played the part next, most recently appearing in episodes featuring Neil’s memorial in 2019.
Moses’s parents Neil and Sofia (Julia Pace Mitchell) were married, but the couple’s union was short-lived. Still, they remained on good terms. Neil went to New York to care for his son after Sofia had an injury.
Moses’s godparents are Olivia (Tonya Lee Williams) and Devon’s biological father, Tucker McCall (Stephen Nichols). YR, like most soaps, is famous for sending little ones off camera only to bring them back a few years later in their teen years. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS.
