He’s one of soaps’ most often-talked-about-but-unseen characters. We’re talking about Phillip “Chance” Chancellor IV on The Young and the Restless. Last played by John Driscoll, the show has recast the role and viewers will be seeing him sooner than later!
According to Soaps In Depth, actor Donny Boaz has been hired to play Chance and he’ll first air on Friday, November 8. Chance has been referenced by characters involved in the Katherine Chancellor will challenge story. While it appeared that Chance’s role in the drama was being played off-screen, viewers are now going to be seeing him in the flesh!
Boaz is new to daytime, but not to the serialized form of storytelling. He played Bo McCabe on the TNT revival of Dallas from 2013-14. The busy actor also has numerous projects on his IMDB page. His upcoming films include Hollywoodland of Hope & Lies, College Bound: Window of Hope. The First Noelle, The Portrait’s Secret, Billy and the Bandit, Flip Turn, and Power Play.
As veteran YR viewers recall, Phillip IV (aka Chance) is the son of Nina Webster (Tricia Cast) and Phillip Chancellor III (Thom Beirdz). Born in 1989, the character has been played over the years by, among others Penn Badgely (Gossip Girl), Courtland Mead (Lloyd In Space), and Driscoll.
How will Chance’s return to the canvas affect Devon (Bryton James) and others? Stay tuned to find out! The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
