It looks like Gina Tognoni has taped her last episode of The Young and the Restless. The cast gathered for a party to toast the exiting Emmy-winner as she embarks on new endeavors.
Headlines exploded recently when word Tognoni, who plays Phyllis, announced she was leaving the top-rated soap after reports surfaced that Michelle Stafford, who originated the role of Phyllis back in 1994, was leaving her role as Nina on General Hospital and would be coming back to Genoa City.
Tognoni joined YR in 2014, assuming the role of Phyllis, who’d been in a coma after falling down a flight of stairs during a struggle with Sharon (Sharon Case.)
The actress won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress for her role as Phyllis in 2017. She has two other Daytime Emmys for her role as Dinah on Guiding Light and is also known to fans as Kelly on One Life to Live.
At the farewell reception, co-star Peter Bergman (Jack) toasted Tognoni, calling her a lady who is “kind and has good will towards everybody.”
Check out an Instagram post from Tognoni below, a tweet containing Bergman’s emotional toast, and several selfies and candid shots from other stars!
