Sharon Case began her role as Sharon Newman on The Young and the Restless back in 1994. Prior to taking on the role that made her a household soap name, Case worked on a number of television shows including Beverly Hills, 90210, Doogie Howser, M.D., Cheers, General Hospital, and As the World Turns.
Along with her busy acting career, Case has pursued a number of other career opportunities throughout her life. From where she was born and raised to her very first television gig, here are five fast facts you need to know about the actress!
In The Beginning…
Case was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1971. Before she got into acting she was passionate about dance and began taking both ballet and jazz lessons. However, her family didn’t stay in Michigan very long, as they moved to Chatsworth, California when she was just six years old.
Before She Became An Actress
After giving up dancing, Case was determined to make it as an actress. But, at the age of 17, she was actually scouted to be a model. She was offered a gig in Japan, which she ended up taking, and she lived there for five months. Once she returned to the states she started working in theater and appeared in shows such as Grease and The Nutcracker.
First Television Role
Though she’s best known for her role on The Young and the Restless, Case actually got her start in acting on another soap, General Hospital. She landed the role of Dawn Winthrop in 1989 but was only on the show for one year.
Side Gig
Along with acting, Case is a jewelry designer. She created a line with YR costume designer Elif Inanc called Pomp in 2010 and they were featured on the QVC Network. Case and Inanc initially created about 20 different designs and their pieces are known for being fairly affordable.
Married Twice
Case has been married two times and her marriage to Sandy Corzine ended in 2009. She has no kids from either marriage and is happily single today. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
