It was sad tidings that brought Malcolm Winters back to Genoa City in 2019, but luckily life is looking up for the character’s portrayer, Shemar Moore, who’s currently celebrating a major milestone.
Happy Birthday, Shemar Moore
That’s because he was born on April 20, 1970, in Oakland, California, which means that this talented actor is turning 52 years old today! Modeling paid Moore’s bills while he earned his Communications major and Theater Arts minor from Santa Clara University. His acting career began when he joined the cast of The Young and the Restless in 1994.
He remained with the CBS soap until 2002, at which point his character — street smart photographer Malcolm Winters — was presumed dead. And though he returned for brief stints in November 2004, September 2014, and April 2019, Moore primarily focused on obtaining work on primetime programs.
He guest-starred on The Jamie Foxx Show, The Nanny, Arli$$, Chicago Hope, Malcolm & Eddie, and Half & Half. He also appeared in a number of made-for-television films including Mama Flora’s Family, Chasing Alice, Nikki and Nora, and Reversible Errors. Plus, he had a recurring role on the DC Comics-inspired series Birds of Prey.
Between 2005 and 2017, Moore played Derek Morgan on the CBS police procedural Criminal Minds. His eventual exit ended a 251-episode run. He subsequently joined the inaugural cast of S.W.A.T.
Since 2014, Moore has provided the voice of Victor Stone, AKA Cyborg, in many animated superhero films including Justice League: War, Justice League: Throne of Atlantis, The Death of Superman, and Reign of the Supermen.
