On March 26, 1973, The Young and the Restless (YR) premiered and to mark this 45th anniversary occasion…To mark the occasion, the show is planning some shocking story moments that are sure to keep viewers glued to their screens!
“The Young and the Restless will celebrate its 45th anniversary by proudly looking back at the rich history of the show while propelling our characters into exciting new stories,” Mal Young, executive producer and head writer, said in a statement.
“Viewers will be treated to a weeklong, can’t-miss-a-minute celebration as storylines take unexpected turns and we welcome faces from the past.”
Starting Monday, March 26 and continuing throughout the anniversary week, fans can expect to see the following some pretty shocking developments–as well as some old faves that could lead lapsed viewers back to the show.
That decades-long rivalry between Victor and Jack will reach a boiling point and that could be the (boiling) point of no return for the two men.
Nothing will ever be the same after next week.
Could that boiling point have something to do with Jack’s sister Ashley and the secret she and Abby discover. Remember, Abby is not just Ashley’s daughter–she’s Victor’s, too.
While Victoria, Ashley, and Abby have been at odds professionally of late, nobody really knows what’s going on in Vicky’s home with an emotionally abusive boyfriend/ex-husband. Things take a turn for J.T. and Vicky next week that will shock everyone.
And, it looks like Victor isn’t just dealing with Jack–he has family problems to conquer, as well. That includes the aforementioned problems with Victoria, as well as wife Nikki’s little dalliance with a handyman. Sharon and Nick also have their issues as they face their own tragic history.
Like we said, it will also feel like old home week in Genoa City as we see the returns of Lorie Brooks (Jaime Lyn Bauer), Leslie Brooks (Janice Lynde), Julia Newman Martin (Meg Bennett), Mackenzie Browning Hellstrom (Kelly Kruger), Raul Guittierez (David Scott Lago), and Brittany Hodges (Lauren Woodland).
It’s possible that some of these fan favorites will have extended returns as they’re more tied to characters currently on the canvas. Stay tuned to see whose stays may be lengthened as stories unfold!
The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for airitmes.
