There have been a lot of cast changes at The Young and the Restless over the last few years. You can pretty much follow the actors’ social media accounts to see which ones are unhappy about working less.
One actress, two-time Emmy-winner Jess Walton (Jill) has not been appearing as often in recent years, but the performer is okay with that. In fact, she’s quite content!
In a recent interview, Walton revealed she has the best of both worlds. Living in Oregon, she’s able to spend as much time with her family as she wants. And when Y&R issues an invitation for her to reprise Jill, she happily says yes and travels to Los Angeles where the show is shot.
The actress was especially glad to be off contract so she could be with her husband, John James, whom she reveals has bounced back from a problem with his health.
Walton says she was dismayed when Tristan Rogers (ex-Colin) left the show, theorizing that if his character would be used less then so would hers as the two had gotten married.
The actress has stated that Y&R executive producer Mal Young treats her with a lot of respect and, for that, she’s very grateful.
The key to seeing more Jill is the actress and the show keeping an open line of communication going.
She recently let them know that she wants to work more, now that her husband is doing better, so hopefully that means we’ll be seeing a lot more of Jill soon.
Walton recently appeared on the show when Billy (Jason Thompson) was going through an intervention over his gambling addiction, which had resurfaced.
Jill was married to John (Jerry Douglas) twice and has had on-again/off-again flings with Jack (Peter Bergman). She’s an original character from the show’s beginning and has a place in the hearts of Y&R fans everywhere.
Here’s hoping 2019 brings Walton and Jill back to Genoa City with a fantastic story!
