Age is nothing but a number according to Aaliyah, and The Young and the Restless appears to be pushing that premise – if those flirty vibes between Sally (Courtney Hope) and Jack (Peter Bergman) are to be believed.
The Young and the Restless Odd Romance?
Eww, gross, some viewers sneered. Sally is almost 40 years younger than the Abbott scion. A relationship between those two would just embarrass them both. We beg to differ.
Witness for the Defense
Sure, we could assume that Sally has Daddy issues – after all, she barely knew hers, and that Jack is chasing after women young enough to be his granddaughter because he feels guilty over how he treated his very first, much younger (but not this much) wife, Patti, who ended up going crazy as a result.
Or maybe he just prefers women young enough to be his granddaughter because they are… perkier… than those his own age.
But what if it’s something completely different. What if, for the first time in their lives, both Sally and Jack have met a person who not only accepts them for exactly who they are – no having to feign a better nature – and doesn’t judge them for what they’ve done in the past?
Clean Slate
Sally is trying to move past all the schemes she pulled back in Los Angeles – even as Summer (Hunter King) does her best to dig them up again, and Kyle (Michael Mealor) goes along because he now does whatever Summer tells him to, without question.
And Jack… Jack has quite the past to overcome. Not just poor, mentally ill Patti, but the affair with his stepmother, the blackmailing of his sister, the way he’s treated dozens of women over the years.
What if, in this May/December romance, both find the acceptance and support both have always craved. Even before they hit the ‘Sack.’ The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
