It looked like Thad Luckinbill and his return to The Young and the Restless (YR) as J.T. wasn’t going to happen on December 11, but the show wisely opted to have the actor pop up in the show’s final moments with ex-wife Victoria and former father-in-law Victor Newman!
Luckinbill spoke to Soap Opera Digest about his return to Genoa City and why he’s coming back at just the right time.
After the actor left the show in 2011, he continued to act but also formed a production company, Black Label Media, which has produced many successful films including Only The Brave, La La Land, and The Good Lie.
“Long story short, I’ve always stayed in communication with Y&R — obviously, I have a lot of friends there and Amelia’s [Heinle, Victoria, whom Luckinbill wed in 2007] there — so I always kind of knew what was going on,” Luckinbill told Digest.
“We had some conversations over the years about coming back for this and that, and it just didn’t coordinate with what I was doing with my other company, so they talked to me to a little bit more recently about it.”
Luckinbill says he wasn’t sure this return would work out, but once schedules were all coordinated, he was back on board and happy to be reunited with so many of his Y&R pals.
Y&R has set up an immediate antagonistic dynamic between J.T. and his former in-laws as an investigator into Victor’s potential illegal dealings. We’ve seen in a promo Victoria discussing with Billy the idea she should sleep with J.T. to ensure a positive outcome for the Newmans, but could her plan backfire? Stay tuned!
