A grown Noah didn’t recognize her, but veteran fans of The Young and the Restless (YR) sure did when Alice walked into the Underground on Tuesday! (Looking smokin’ hot, we might add!)
Nick (Joshua Morrow) gave Sharon a warning that Alice (Tamara Clatterbuck) was back in town, and Sharon (Sharon Case) hightailed it over to share a reunion with her on today’s episode.
Soap Hub gives big kudos to Y&R for getting all the history right between the two women whom Cassie once called “Mom.”
A, Her Name Is Alice
Nick suggested the two women focus more on their current lives but here’s some added backstory for more recent viewers. Alice Johnson was only a name to Y&R viewers a little less than 20 years ago.
Grace and Tony had gone to track down Cassie, the little girl Sharon had given up for adoption when she was in high school.
The pair wanted to reunite Sharon and her daughter in case her premature son Noah didn’t live.
They located Cassie (Camryn Grimes) and found she was living not with Alice, but her grandmother Millie. Upon learning that Alice wasn’t the most attentive mom, Grace and Tony convinced Millie to let them take Cassie.
Because Noah lived (yay!), it took a while for Sharon and Cassie to reunite. Things were complicated severely when Alice — who was Cassie’s legal mother — returned and wanted to know where her kid was.
Courtroom Classic
Alice was thisclose to regaining custody of her daughter when, in an emotional tour-de-force, she stood up in the courtroom and informed the judge that she was willing to relinquish her rights so that Cassie could live happily with Nick and Sharon.
Soon after, Alice left town. Clatterbuck, who went on to play roles on General Hospital (as Tammy) and on Days of Our Lives (as Barb), reprised her Y&R role after Cassie was killed and Nick had gone to visit her seeking answers.
What’s Next?
Sharon came to a shocking conclusion at the end of today’s episode after seeing Alice get into a car that matched the one connected to the sex ring she’s been trying to track down. Could Alice be involved? (She did tell Sharon she was working in sales!)
Sharon sure seems to think so. While Alice always had an edge, she did do the right thing by giving up her right to Cassie. But has she gone down a different road now? Stay tuned to find out.
