Viewers tune into The Young and the Restless for love, intrigue, adventure, and mystery. But could Genoa City be too busy these days?
There’s the hunt for JT (Thad Luckinbill), and the fallout from Hilary’s (Mishael Morgan) death. There’s Summer (Hunter King) trying to seduce Billy (Jason Thompson), and Nick (Joshua Morrow) sleeping with Phyllis (Gina Tognoni), and Jack’s (Peter Bergman) paternity, and Mariah (Camryn Grimes) fretting about Tessa (Cait Fairbanks), and also Ashley (Eileen Davidson) and Neil (Kristoff St. John).
Then, there’s whatever purpose Nate (Brooks Darnell) is supposed to be serving, outside of regularly misplacing his shirt. Plus, Victor (Eric Braeden) is perpetually angry, and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) is busy making excuses for him.
Who can keep track of it all? Almost 16,000 of you took a shot of making sense of it all!
Roll It Back
It is too much, 62% of you admit, somewhat reluctantly. You’re having trouble following all different storylines, and who is keeping what secret from whom.
You’re also not thrilled with a plot being raised, played intensely for a short while, then ignored. Jack was obsessed with finding out who his biological father was. He learned it wasn’t Phillip Chancellor… and he gave up.
Same goes for the stop and start of Mariah and Tessa, who left town. And where has Ravi (Abhi Sinha) gone?
Just Right
Better busy than bored, 37% of the audience counters. The great part about playing so many stories at the same time is that if you don’t like one, there’s always another to hold your attention.
Most people don’t face only one issue at a time, so it feels perfectly natural that Nikki should be hiding the secret of JT’s death with Victoria, Phyllis, and Sharon, while also fretting about Nick’s vendetta against Victor, along with continuing her battle with MS. When it rains it pours! Just like real life!
The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
