Linden Ashby’s character is obsessed with Sharon on The Young and the Restless. However, offscreen, the actor only has eyes for his wife and co-star Susan Walters. After nearly 39 years of marriage, he’s still as deeply in love with his wife as the day they met.
Couple’s Loving Start
While their soap characters have bad luck in the romance department, the couple’s real-life love story is the opposite. Ashby and Walters met on the set of the soap opera Loving in October 1985, and it was love at first sight. Six months after they began dating, they were married.
Three decades later, the couple is still going strong.
In a recent interview with Woman’s World, Ashby opened up about his marriage to Walters.
“There’s a funny point in your life, if you’re lucky, where you really can’t imagine life without the other person,” the actor explained. “You might feel that when you’re young, but there’s a whole different feeling to it now — because it’s still romantic, sexy, and all these other things, but there are also so many layers added to it. There’s a depth to the relationship.”
“Look, she’s my wife, but she’s also such a good friend,” he continued. “And that’s amazing. I’m truly lucky.”
Life couldn’t be better for the couple, who are parents to two daughters and grandparents to a granddaughter named Nora. When they’re not babysitting, the couple is busy in the Y&R set.
Walters, who plays Diane, is involved in a big storyline as Diane and Jack’s (Peter Bergman) marriage blows up. Meanwhile, Ashby made his shocking return as Cameron this year after being killed off in 2023. Hallucination Cameron has caused trouble for Sharon (Sharon Case) by convincing her to seek revenge against Daniel (Michael Graziadei) for Cassie’s (Camryn Grimes) death. His advice landed Sharon in a messy situation when Heather (Vail Bloom) became a victim of their plot.
