When Y&R spoilers revealed that Rey Rosales died — off-screen — fans were poised for, at the very least, a juicy umbrella story to make the seemingly senseless demise worth it. Was Victoria Newman Locke at fault? Ashland Locke? And how did Sally Spectra, who was also out on the road at the same time, fit into the mystery?

Y&R Spoilers Wild Speculation

Thursday, we got our answer: No one was at fault. Rey (Jordi Vilasuso) had a heart attack while driving. And he died. The end. Wow…dramatic…but we’ve been promised that Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) will be digging into all of Rey’s left behind cases. So what if, while he’s digging, Chance discovers the true culprit behind his partner’s “accident?”

Chickens Coming Home To Roost in Genoa City

Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) didn’t understand how a healthy man like her husband could just, out of the blue, suffer a fatal heart infarction. It didn’t make any sense!

But Rey wasn’t a healthy man, was he? Less than a year ago, Rey was in the hospital, at death’s door, from a poisoning everyone was dying to pin on Adam Newman (Mark Grossman). His body almost completely shut down. You think you just bounce back from that without any long-term damage? Obviously, Rey’s heart was terribly affected. That’s what led to it unexpectedly giving out!

Y&R Spoilers: The Con Woman Did It

But Adam wasn’t responsible for Rey’s poisoning. Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) was. She was doing it to frame Adam. Rey was just a patsy. Chelsea had nothing against the man. And, in the past few months, she’d actually fallen in love — or at least, in lust — with him.

Right now, Rey’s death seems to be completely pointless. Can we give it at least a little meaning by making it so that Chelsea has to face the fact that she killed the guy she was falling for? And, worst crime of all, made precious Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) sad? Give us some kind of a payoff, Y&R! Anything! Pretty please?
